Jasmine was recommended to us by our builder and she proved everything he promised: top end, meticulous in design and detail and providing the whole package.We were looking for someone to design three bathrooms where there had been two, and work out some extremely tricky roof lines and sloping ceilings – a job that seemed to confuse and confound most people who looked at it. Jasmine and her team were exceptional – measuring and working out all the relevant roof heights and slopes that went every which way, moving walls and using cavities but all with minimal building needs.The outcome is three beautiful modern bathrooms using every bit of space thoughtfully with plenty of storage and every convenience considered. They look amazing and are so easy to live in.We were under a very tight time deadline to get all the plans and fixtures and fittings ordered in time for the build to start and Jasmine and her team prioritised our job so that this all worked and the entire job was completed to time. Jasmine was an absolute delight to work with, and we have no hesitation in recommending her.Jasmine was the only designer we interviewed who demonstrated that she understood what client centred really meant. She genuinely listened to our brief and seemed to bring no preconceived ideas to the table, however she was also able to incorporate her great ideas and design vision. She worked well with our builder, and her ego never got in the way of incorporating his or our ideas into the design. We were sure there were times she didn't agree with the choices we made, however she never lost sight of it being our house and our project.The space that we had was tricky (and had stumped others), however Jasmine was able to think outside the square to renovate the space into something that we really love. At the end of the project we have no design regrets - and we would hazard a guess that few can say that of a renovation project.We did our renovation at a particularly stressful time (during Covid lockdowns), and Jasmine's sunny outlook and upbeat personality was perfect to jolly us along when stress and decision fatigue was starting to take its toll.If you are looking for a genuinely client centred designer, Jasmine is fantastic.

I approached Jasmine and her team for a Kitchen/Laundry renovation in a small unit, and I couldn't be more impressed with the ideas and designs they came up with in a small area. My husband and I had moved to an older beach house which required a complete refresh including colours, kitchen, laundry, bathrooms and living rooms.I was referred to Jasmine by a family member and immediately felt at ease upon meeting her for the first time.After a preliminary consultation with us we engaged Jasmine and our agreed brief was for JMD to draw up detailed plans for our kitchen, laundry, bathrooms and living room cabinetry along with a much needed brief to refresh the exterior painting of our home. Working with JMD on the pop-up cinema for Cult Cinema & Bar was such an amazing experience.We had to transform a very basic council owned hall into an intimate and inviting bar and functional cinema ... and then put it back again. As the venue would only be open for one month we had tight budgets to adhere to.JMD were so knowledgeable and creative in their approach to the space and put us at ease the whole way through. They paired the fit-out seamlessly with the branding and managed to capture exactly what we wanted - it seemed like magic to us the in the week we had to set up, the space was completely transformed. JMD designed and oversaw the construction of a modular bar that can be used in any pop-up space, as well as custom lighting, sourcing plants, furniture, designing the layout and styling the space. We have worked with Jasmine since late 2011 on the renovation of our home in Toorak. It was built in the late 70s with some good and some not so good design features of the era – like dark exposed brickwork. We wanted to make it more comfortable without losing the attractive design features. Jasmine provided design advice on the whole process, but particularly on the kitchen and living area on the ground floor, and the three bathrooms and bedrooms on the top floor.Jasmine has a good design sense, design flair and an attention to detail. But she does not impose her views – she suggests ideas and if we did not immediately accept them she would explain the reasons based on proportion or appearance or design or colour. We would also suggest ideas and Jasmine would give us advice in a polite, friendly and frank way about whether she felt they would work, or how they could be improved. The whole process was very collaborative. We respected her design sense and she respected what we were trying to achieve.During the whole design and build process, Jasmine was reliable, and responsive to questions and to dealing with issues that arose. She gave us the time we needed to think about design decisions and to check drawings. When the situation demanded during construction, she was happy to deal on the phone with issues as they arose from ourselves or the builder or cabinet maker or other trades.The results have exceeded our expectations. We have a ground floor that is light and airy, with an elegant new kitchen with delightful 70s touches. The top floor is cosy and comfortable including two good sized bedrooms with practical, elegant, and bright en suite bathrooms and a master suite complete with a sun light filled bathroom that is a delight to use, and an elegant but low key walk in.

I engaged an interior designer to streamline the process for myself and to get a more interesting and beautiful result than I would have if left to my own devices. Jasmine exceeded my expectations on both fronts. She really made making the decisions easy for me, and brought a lovely sensibility to the job that successfully incorporated my existing pieces, her ideas and my ideas. The tradesmen and craftsmen she recommended were all great to work with and very high quality, taking a great deal of pride in their work. You were able to create the most incredible open pantry shelving space, timber display shelving for my old kitchen scales, and provide the biggest island bench the space would allow. By doing this you have brought so much more light into the working space and completely modernised the house. Jasmine was referred to us by another of her clients as we investigated a renovation for our home. He had worked with Jasmine twice before in large projects and could not have been more insistent that we appoint her as designer. We feel fortunate to have received this advice.Our renovation involved a kitchen, two bathrooms and two powder rooms. We sought a design that placed a high priority on functionality and a classic look that would be resistant to changing fashions. Whilst we had some ideas of what we might want from browsing through kitchen and bathroom magazines and renovation websites, we had no experience in bringing all of these aspects together.Jasmine made the experience of arriving at a suitable design an enjoyable one. From the initial call which laid out her capabilities and services, it was a pleasure from beginning to end. Throughout the entire process, Jasmine was open to our ideas. She was instantly able to bring rough concepts, a few clippings and some hand waves into working designs. It was as if she could see the pictures in our minds that we were trying to convey. Colour palettes would be developed whose combinations we could not possibly have created, let alone imagined. Not just colour, but texture also. Tiles and stone surfaces were selected for durability and also to be forgiving to day to day use without sacrificing aesthetics. For example, we have two daughters who wear their hair long. It would never have crossed our minds but Jasmine gave careful consideration to bathroom floor tiles that would make loose hair less visible. It is the small things like this that continually surprised us on top of the major design decisions. The ergonomics were also well considered. Ultimately, we want to use these rooms and they had to be practical in addition to looking good. We cook meals more quickly now, as one example of how design choices improved functionality.Jasmine can also be appropriately assertive in warning against hot ideas we may have had that just would not have been practical or otherwise have been unwise for design reasons. We really valued that and it increased our confidence that we were heading in the right direction. As ideas inevitably change upon further reflection, Jasmine accommodated the process of settling to final designs with ease. She has clearly adapted well to clients who change their minds as things progress and we never felt that anything was too much to ask or felt hesitant to re-imagine something we had agreed upon weeks earlier. It was always clear that Jasmine's key aim was for us to get a good result.The process of design, for Jasmine, does not end with the production and delivery of design schematics. She worked through fine details with our builders to ensure that various matters were accurate and that the plans could be implemented. As would be expected for larger projects, unforeseeable things developed along the way. Where any of these issues could have benefited from Jasmine's assistance, she was always there. She would visit the stone suppliers to ensure that alternatives we had to contemplate were the best choices available. When we decided to have splashbacks instead of tiles in the kitchen, appropriate colour choices appeared two days. It was like this throughout the renovation. Jasmine's appointment only really ended when the renovation ended.Appointing Jasmine was the right thing for us to have done. We would have had a lesser outcome without her. She kept us clear of pitfalls and produced a design which simply works and, naturally, also looks good. She also helped reduce the impact of adverse developments during the building process. Due significantly to the working relationship she had developed with our builder, issues which arose just seemed to fix themselves.We have had a wonderful experience with Jasmine and her team at Jasmine McClelland Design.

My bathroom which sounded simple enough: I wanted beautiful space, with a big deep bath in which I could relax with a glass of champagne; I wanted the bath separate from the shower; and the laundry had to be fit into the small, irregularly shaped space.From the outset I had the sense that Jasmine was genuinely concerned to ensure that my experience of the project be as hassle free as possible, and that the end product would meet my expectations. Jasmine demonstrated a genuine enthusiasm for the project; she wanted to create a bathroom for me and my home, and not simply roll out another version an existing model.Jasmine actually listened to what I wanted. She found a bath which met my specifications and which fit into the space, and then designed a lovely space around it making the most of the room's irregular shape. By presenting the plans with tile, cabinetry and bench top samples, Jasmine helped me to see what the room could become. She also recommended a cabinet maker and a builder who would bring the plans to life.Jasmine's commitment to making sure I got what I wanted was illustrated by what she did with the tiles. When I said that the first tiles were not quite right, Jasmine found an alternative with which I was happy. I thought we were done but unknown to me, Jasmine kept looking for an option that more closely fit the initial idea. She found them, and I am delighted to say that they are a striking anchor in a beautiful room.I am not a person who would ever say that I enjoyed a renovation. But Jasmine and her team at Jasmine McClelland Design delivered on the promise to make the process as straight forward as possible. The planning meetings were used to get a clear understanding of my requirements and priorities, and to answer my many questions. With plans in place and decisions on fittings and fixtures made, I was able to get on with my own job and leave Jasmine and the team to theirs. I was kept up to date with regular progress reports (including pictures). The bathroom was delivered on time and on budget. The finished product is much more beautiful than I imagined. It is with much pleasure and great satisfaction that we recommend Jasmine McClelland Design.For several years we had been trying to renovate our kitchen but couldn't come up with a workable design. A large space that didn't function well, with too many doors and windows and not enough preparation surfaces or storage. Friends, builders and carpenters all offered advice but nothing seemed appropriate or right for us. So we just lived with it!Then a friend recommended Jasmine and the minute we met her we knew we were going to get a good result. She listened to our ideas, queried our requirements, our likes and dislikes and took copious notes. I have a major back problem and had been told by a specialist to get a kitchen that didn't require me to bend too much, so it was really important for us to get a design that would work for us.When Jasmine returned and showed us her design outline we wanted to say 'Ahhh yes, of course'; Because it all looked so simple and so right… why hadn't we thought of this earlier? It was modern, clean, and practical and worked around the other rooms in our home. It also featured so many of the things we love, natural wood, colour etc. She took a non functioning room and by simply rearranging a few things and moving a few doorways managed to create a massive pantry, let in loads of natural light and find room for masses of bench space. It was perfect!We had our own builders and cabinet makers and Jasmine happily liaised with them over the renovation. Charlie, our cabinet maker, claims that Jasmine's design is the best kitchen design he has ever made and that she was a pleasure to work with. We only had to talk to Jasmine a couple of times after we received the design plans as she had factored everything into her design package, suppliers, colours, products etc, everything we needed to move ahead with the job.We will never be able to thank Jasmine enough for her amazing design. Our kitchen was once a room that used to really bring us down and that we hated using. Now this beautiful room has become the centre of our home and we spend hours sitting there, talking, drinking, cooking etc. So much so that we no longer want to go out as much in the evening, we're now happy to just stay home and relax in our lovely new room.We really want to thank Jasmine for her intuition, her skill and her wonderful design. We are so grateful for everything she did for us.
