Brunswick West kitchen

The scope was a kitchen that could accommodate the visits of his large and food-passionate family, but also respect his own passion for design and style. Challenges of limited space and a large, centrally-placed existing chimney were overcome by incorporating these elements into the overall design as features to be celebrated - an old linen closet cavity became the setting for a modern pantry/appliance cupboard, and the lacquered red brick of the chimney contrasts perfectly with its rear subway tiles and free standing oven. The use of feature shelves solves the overhead depth problem by creating appealing spaces for showing off mid-century curiosities, and adding to a space resounding with character and warmth.

This kitchen was a finalist in the 2014 KBDI awards for a Small kitchen design.
